DSP-100 Dual Channel RS-232 Serial PCMCIA Card Two independent RS-232 serial interfaces PCMCIA Card Services Specification 2.1 compliant Client software driver for DOS and OS/2 Windows 95/98/NT/2000 compatible 16550 UARTs with 16 byte FIFOs standard Selectable and shareable interrupts (IRQ 3-7, 9-12, 14, 15) Selectable I/O base addressThe DSP-100 is a 2.1 compliant Type-II PCMCIA card which adds two fully independent asynchronous RS-232 serial interfaces to the host computer. The DSP-100 is implemented with 16550 UARTs that provide 16-byte transmit and receive FIFOs for increased performance in multi-tasking environments, and with applications involving high data rates. The DSP-100 is accessed through standard D-9 male connectors.
The DSP-100's two serial ports can be addressed in either Block Mode or COM Mode. In COM Mode the ports are configured at the standard COM I/O address locations--either COM 1 and COM3 or COM2 and COM4. In Block Mode the two serial ports are configured in one continuous 16-byte block of I/O space. This block must begin on an even 16-byte boundary.
The two serial ports on the DSP-100 can share a single interrupt using an interrupt status register to indicate which of the ports triggered the interrupt. This interrupt status register is implemented on the UART's seldom used "ScratchPad" register. If an application requires use of the UART's Scratchpad registers, the interrupt status register can be easily disabled.
All necessary software is included to install and configure the cards for use with DOS/Windows 3.x, OS/2, Windows 95/98, Windows NT and Windows 2000. |
